A Letter To Our Members

To Our Members:

On behalf of the Board of Directors at the Greater Pittsburgh Police FCU, we are concerned with the safety of our members and staff.

As the COVID-19 is having a greater impact in the United States, our thoughts are with those who have been affected by it. As a rapidly evolving situation, we feel it is important to reach out about the steps we are taking to make safety a priority. The Credit Union wants to remind you we offer online banking instead of visiting the office. Other alternatives are mobile banking, phone transfers and bill pay. If you have questions or concerns, please call the office at 412-922-4800.

Banking Regulation D

Regulation D impacts the number of transactions Greater Pittsburgh Police Federal Credit Union may allow on your deposit accounts (including Savings, Sub-Savings and Club). This regulation was implemented by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, whose job is to ensure that financial institutions maintain adequate reserves for the funds they have on deposit.

Regulation D affects you by limiting certain withdrawals and transfers that may be made from your Share Savings, Sub-Savings and Club accounts. The following transactions (or any combination thereof) are limited to six (6) per month:

  1. Overdraft agreements where money is automatically withdrawn from a share account to cover overdrafts in any of your other Greater Pittsburgh Police Federal Credit Union accounts.

  2. Electronic online banking transfers from a share account to other accounts or third parties.

  3. Preauthorized, automatic transfers (ACH) made at a predetermined time to third parties or to your other accounts, of which up to six (6) may be made by check, check card (if applicable) or similar order to a third party.

There is no limit on the frequency or dollar amount of transfers for the purpose of repaying loans and associated expenses where the loan has been made to you by the Credit Union or is serviced by the Credit Union.

And, there are no limitations to the number of transactions that you handle on any account in person, by mail or through an ATM. You should know that Greater Pittsburgh Police Federal Credit Union will refuse any transactions that are not in compliance with Regulation D (checks may be returned and fees applied).

FEDERAL RESERVE REGULATION D IS A DIRECTIVE OF THE GOVERNMENT, NOT OF YOUR CREDIT UNION.

****UPDATE***** 9/5/19

Credit Karma/Equifax

Attention Valued Members:

After researching this issue it has been found that Equifax implemented a code incorrectly, which resulted in the reporting/notifications errors. Equifax is working to reverse the incorrect code that was reported. Many of our members have already seen the correction on their Credit Karma account. We want to thank you again for your patience as we worked through this issue.

Valued Members,  9/3/19

The Credit Union has been getting a lot of calls regarding Credit Karma & Equifax reporting discrepancy.
